Kristen, I have a friend of the family who is an agent. I like him and he seems to be of help, but when I asked his professional opinion on the price to sell my home, it seemed too low. I called another agent who suggested a price more in line with my expectations. Who do I choose?

Great question! It could be that your friend is being a little more honest with you, while the the Realtor® might be simply telling you what he or she thought you expected. (This is called buying a listing).

You may consider consulting a couple more Realtors® on the market value of your home. The estimates should essentially be in the same ballpark.

Sometimes mixing business with friends puts a damper on the friendship; on the other hand if your friend is truly providing wise advice, he may be offended if you ignore the advice and list with another agent.

Either way, it pays to do your research and then choose the Realtor® that you are confident is the best agent for the job.

Thank you for your question and I hope this helped.
